AEG offered Michael Jackson estate $60 million for Las Vegas show

By Jeff Gottlieb
July 23, 2013, 1:21 p.m.

An AEG Live executive testified Tuesday that the firm offered Michael Jackson's estate a guarantee of $60 million over 10 years in a deal that included a Las Vegas theatrical show based on the pop star's songs.

John Meglen said the proposal included a "Michael Jackson campus" at the Planet Hollywood Hotel that would have included the singer's artifacts, two restaurants, a nightclub and stores to sell merchandise.

The show would have been directed by Kenny Ortega, the director of the ill-fated "This Is It" 50-concert comeback tour Jackson was preparing when he died in 2009.

The AEG executive testified his company would have paid an additional $40 million to create the show.

"The $40 million gets you to opening night," he said.

Meglen, dressed in a dark blue suit and a white shirt open at the collar, said this would have been AEG's first shot at creating what he called a "conceptual show," rather than one where a live performer is the main attraction.

Conceptual shows, he said, are riskier.

“With the headliner, you have a certain track record of how many tickets they’re going to sell … but if you do a show based on Elton’s music or Celine’s music, it depends on how good the show is, I guess,” said Meglen referring to Elton John and Celine Dion, singers who have done extended runs at Las Vegas hotels.

Meglen said that hearing that Cirque du Soleil was talking to the Jackson estate is what led AEG to make its pitch.

He said they had a meeting with the estate's co-executor, John Branca, in his conference room. Meglen said AEG did a "B-minus, C-plus pitch. In my opinion, they were already down the road and they wanted to do the show with Cirque.”

The Circue du Soleil tribute to Jackson is playing at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, with shows scheduled to open soon in China, Australia and New Zealand.

Meglen said AEG never made Jackson an offer for a conceptual show while he was alive.

“We thought if we could create the show with Michael’s catalog that that could be very successful, but it’s risky,” Meglen said.

The court is hearing the wrongful death case filed by Jackson's mother and three children against AEG Live.

Dr. Murray to Jackson Family
Mark My
Words, I'll
Destroy You

'Consider This an Imminent
Nuclear Warning'

Conrad Murray to Jackson Family -- Mark My Words, I Will Destroy You

You want the truth? YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!
Sie wollen die Wahrheit wissen? SIE KÖNNEN NICHT MIT DER WAHRHEIT UMGEHEN!!!

At least that's what Dr. Conrad Murray is saying to AEG and the Jackson family, claiming he's prepared to drop a nuclear bomb on the entire wrongful death lawsuit if he's forced to testify ... a bomb that neither side can begin to fathom ... and that will blow both sides out of the water.

It's the second time Murray's threatened AEG and the Jackson family with destructive testimony, suggesting he's been keeping a bombshell secret for years regarding Michael and the singer's true relationship with his family -- but the latest threat is borderline scary.

Murray made the threat in a recent voicemail message to a friend, pleading with AEG and the Jacksons for one last time to leave him in peace and spare him from testifying.

He says, "Please stop. If you don’t, let this serve as my final warning to both sides. Don’t incite me to testify. Consider this as an imminent nuclear warning. Enough is enough." He then hints at the nature of his "nuclear" secret.

Murray was subpoenaed to testify in Katherine's $40 billion lawsuit against AEG -- but he pled the 5th because he doesn't want to incriminate himself in any upcoming legal proceedings ... after he appealed to overturn his manslaughter conviction.

And it sounds like he has other reasons for not wanting to testify as well.

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Michael Jackson "had a real monkey on his back" with a longtime drug addiction his family kept secret from the world, and it led to his overdose death, a lawyer for AEG Live said.

The concert promoter's defense against the Jackson family's wrongful death lawsuit began Tuesday and will include testimony from "all of the many, many doctors" who treated Jackson over the past decades, AEG Live attorney Marvin Putnam said.

AEG Live executive John Meglin -- who is the CEO of the Concerts West division -- returns to the stand Wednesday after testifying Tuesday that Dr. Conrad Murray's request for $5 million to work as Jackson's personal physician for tour was a topic at a meeting of the company's executive committee. Jackson lawyer Brian Panish said that was an important revelation that would help his case.

Panish pressed Meglin on the question of if he agreed with his boss, AEG Live President Randy Phillips, who testified that he thought Jackson was the greatest artist of all time.

"I think that Michael's very big in the pop world, but the Rolling Stones are bigger, or Led Zeppelin," Megline said. "I'm a rocker."

Defense witnesses will also include a parade of Jackson family members, including a return appearance by matriarch Katherine Jackson, who just concluded two days of testimony as her lawyers presented their case.

"They kept his private world private as best they could and now they would like to blame somebody else for things that only they knew privately," Putnam said.

Michael Jackson's mother and three children contend AEG Live, which was producing and promoting his comeback concerts, is liable in his death because it negligently hired, retained or supervised Murray.

Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's death, which the coroner ruled was caused by an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol. The doctor told investigators he was using the drug to treat Jackson's insomnia as he prepared for his "This Is It" debut in London.

Jackson, not AEG Live, chose and controlled Murray, Putnam argued. He said in his opening statements at the start of the trial 12 weeks ago he would show jurors "ugly stuff" about Jackson to prove that AEG Live executives had no way of knowing about the dangerous treatments the doctor was giving in the privacy of Jackson's bedroom.

Michael's mom speaks

The appearance of Katherine Jackson, Michael Jackson's 83-year-old mother, as a concluding witness in her case gave Putnam a chance to probe what family members knew about Jackson's drug abuse history.

"There are a lot of enormous inconsistencies in what is being said and what the truth is," Putnam told reporters Monday after he finished his cross-examination of Katherine Jackson.

She "reported to the world and to the press that he never had a problem with prescription drugs," that he never entered drug rehab and that the family never attempted an intervention to stop his drug use, he said. "As we now know, Michael Jackson had a longtime problem with prescription drugs, so what had been told to the world during his lifetime wasn't true."

The Jackson family's lawyer, Brian Panish, said AEG Live executives were "in the best position to help Michael Jackson" when they saw his health deteriorating in the last two months of his life.

Show director Kenny Ortega sent a series of e-mails to top AEG Live executives warning them that Jackson showed "strong signs of paranoia, anxiety and obsessive-like behavior" at a rehearsal.

"I think the very best thing we can do is get a top psychiatrist in to evaluate him ASAP," Ortega wrote. "It's like there are two people there. One (deep inside) trying to hold on to what he was and still can be and not waiting us to quit him, the other in this weakened and troubled state."

Production manager John "Bugzee" Houghdahl sent an e-mail to producers saying he "watched him deteriorate in front of my eyes over the last 8 weeks. He was able to do multiple 360 spins back in April. He'd fall on his ass if he tried now."

"They knew he was having a problem," Panish said. "He needed them for this concert. They could have easily told him, 'Look, until you go see the appropriate doctor and come back, we're not going on with the rehearsal.' They're the only ones that really had the ability to do something about it and they chose not to."

Ortega testified this month that he thought AEG Live should have halted production on the show until Jackson was well.

Mother: 'I want to know what really happened'

Despite the e-mail evidence and testimony, Putnam insisted Monday that AEG Live executives knew nothing about Jackson's failing health.

"They had little interaction with Michael Jackson in terms of the production and promotion of that," Putnam said, adding that the executives "certainly" did not know "that he was having any problems."

But Panish said the executives should have known: "He was deteriorating in front of their own eyes."

"They watched him waste away," Katherine Jackson testified.

Jackson testified in her first day on the stand Friday that she filed the lawsuit "because I want to know what really happened to my son."

During cross-examination, the AEG Live lawyer played a clip from an interview she gave to NBC a year after her son's death in which she said Michael Jackson had hired the doctor. In response, her lawyer argued she made the statement before seeing AEG e-mails indicating that the company hired him.

Putnam questioned her about a statement she and several of her children signed in 2007 accusing People Magazine of publishing "untrue and inaccurate information" about Michael Jackson's drug use.

"We categorically deny ever planning, participating in, or having knowledge of any kind of intervention, whatsoever," the statement read.

Katherine Jackson acknowledged, however, that she participated in an attempted intervention with her son at his Neverland Ranch in 2002.

"I wanted them to stop lying," she testified, referring to the magazine. "I was worried about all the lies they were telling about the family."

"Was it a lie to say your son had a problem with prescription drugs?" Putnam asked.

"He did not have a problem," she insisted.

Putnam later asked Jackson's mother if she liked to "shut your ears to bad things."

"I don't like to hear bad news," she said.

Jackson appeared combative at times when Putnam cross-examined her, punching back at his questions.

"What does this have to do with my son dying?" she replied at one point.

"I think she was badgered, but that wasn't the first time," Panish told reporters later. "In her deposition, she was asked questions like, "Does your husband ever beat you?'"

For the pretrial deposition, she was questioned for about 12 hours over three days.

Putnam denied he was being overly aggressive in his questioning of her.

"I just wanted to know the facts from her and there was no reason to be aggressive with her," he said. "She was combative, but you can't blame Mrs. Jackson for that. None of us want to find ourselves in a situation where we're having to confront the very public death of our child."

Putnam refused to discuss why he asked Katherine Jackson in the deposition if her husband, Joe Jackson, ever beat her.

"What occurred in those depositions was confidential at Mrs. Jackson's request, therefore I am not at liberty to go into to the private matters that we went into in that deposition," Putnam told CNN. However, Katherine Jackson and her lawyer both brought up the question in court Monday.

"I am not going to go into what we went into about the very tragic history Michael Jackson had with his parents and father over the period of his life," Putnam said. "That is something we did not go into on the stand because it is not relevant. I'm not bringing that up."

Testimony is expected to last into September, the judge told the jury.

''Michael Jackson One' Cirque show has a heart

The group's latest creation proves to be an extravaganza of emotion and beauty.

LAS VEGAS — Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino's fake beach and wave pool were the site of the June 30 opening-night party for "Michael Jackson One," the latest Cirque du Soleil creation, designed as an evocation of the music and spirit of the late King of Pop. Cirque is famous for its extravagant parties, which typically go on for hours. But on this occasion, news filtered in that there had been a serious accident just up the Strip at the MGM Grand, at "Ka," one of Cirque's most massive and artful creations.

Although most of the Mandalay Bay celebrators did not know it, an accident in one of the show's thrilling battle scenes had led to the death of a performer, Sarah Guyard-Guillot, a 31-year-old mother of two.

No one had ever died while performing a Cirque show. The word here is that the Cirque leadership and staffers, who remain close-knit, were devastated by the death of Guyard-Guillot. The accident led to the temporary suspension of "Ka." Performances resumed only last week.

That might explain why "Michael Jackson One" opened here with attention very much focused elsewhere, and that's a shame, because it is a strikingly beautiful and emotional show. Indeed, "One," created by Jamie King, who once danced alongside Jackson on his Dangerous world tour in 1992-93, is the first Cirque show in a long while to feel as if it has a heart. That crucial collective drive of vulnerability, wonder and striving for rebirth informed all the great early Cirque shows, especially those created by its early auteur, Franco Dragone. The return of an emotional personal vision is long overdue.

"One" began in a way last August with the demise of "Viva Elvis," a Cirque show reflecting its newfound interest in working with the estates of iconic celebrities. Not only was "Elvis" bland and unimaginative, but audiences at the high-end Aria Hotel and Casino responded with a yawn.

Enter "Michael Jackson One," not to be confused with "Michael Jackson the Immortal World Tour," a separate Cirque show also based on the life and works of Jackson that has been playing arenas around the world. Although a hit at the box office, "Immortal" is a massive, cool-to-the-touch hagiography that captures Jackson's thirst for the kinetic and the spectacular but seems to crush his gentle spirit and confusing legacy with video, volume, freneticism and fireworks.

King's far superior and infinitely more personal piece at Mandalay Bay is a whole different beast.

Indeed, it contains a beast at its center: a roving man-and-machine with arms made up of cameras, headlines, flashbulbs and probing tentacles. When you add the projected tabloid images on the walls of the theater that greet the audience as it enters, you grasp that the show has an antagonist not unlike the one that pursued Jackson himself. By contrast, the representations of Jackson are fleeting, flickering and fragile.

The notion of Jackson rendered in twinkling lights and inhabiting the Milky Way will sound cloying to the controversial late star's detractors, but then such people are not the target audience. And to King's credit, he doesn't deify so much as evoke with arresting fullness that familiar Jacksonian worldview — that instantly recognizable, inherently unworkable blend of softness, horror, urbanity and escape. The Jackson of "One" captures that wildly singular fusion of childhood innocence and pulp stardom.

It is a show that makes you miss the man and his art. In its best moments, it makes you wonder what aspects of him ever really touched the Earth.

"One" is a remarkable sonic experience. There are 5,800 speakers installed in the theater, including at least three in every seat, creating an experience that certainly can't be re-created in arenas. The mixes of the Jackson hits are based on original recordings, but they have been infused by music director Kevin Antunes with theatricality. There are unexpected pauses, mash-ups, stutters, reaches.

TIMELINE: Summer's must see concerts
http://timelines.latimes.com/summer-music-timberlake-jayz-wayne-shorter/

The take on "Bad," performed against a backdrop of a graffiti-clad moving subway car with original Jackson video playing off to the side, is especially resonant in that it contextualizes Jackson's music against a stark, brutal picture of the big U.S. cities of the 1980s, before mayors started cleaning them up and the yuppies moved back. It's an arresting little meditation on what the weird man was up against back then with all his talk of reconciliation and wonder.

King uses a frame: a quartet of initially cynical youthful explorers in street clothes slowly being immersed and empowered by Jackson's world. It's not a wildly original device but it is executed very well by King and it allows for an eye-popping final moment when 50 or so dancers we've watched do "Bad," "Thriller" and "Beat It" disappear en masse into the floor, even as their guiding Jackson spirit heads for the rafters.

Mostly by not fearing ambiguity, King pulls off what surely read in description as hokey devices.

There's one such moment, which will be what most people carry home from their costly 90 minutes, when Jackson (who is never impersonated in the show directly) appears in hologram-like form, dancing alongside the company, only to transform into his younger self from Gary, Ind., then to disappear without warning into a puff of digitized smoke, leaving the other dancers sad and confused.

It's an eye-popping trick, worth the price of admission. Aside from wondering how they did that with such realism, you get an existential shiver or two. It's certainly a moment that plays with an icon's immortality, which is what a lot of Jackson fans want, but it's just removed enough that it does not so much feel as if Jackson has been reborn as he has taken the form of ghostly dancing, not so different from the visions that ennobled and terrified Scrooge. People's mouths fall open.

The sensation is, as anything sensational about Jackson always should be, complex. And complexity coupled with heart is the only way to bring a grieving Cirque back.

The Jacksons vs. AEG Live — Zeugen der Jacksons, 38. Teil

23. Juli 2013

conrad murray 6171768 original lightbox.

Michael Jackson - Conrad Murray Threatens To Release Bombshell Secret

by WENN | 24 July 2013

Michael Jackson's former physician Dr. Conrad Murray has threatened to release a bombshell secret, if forced to testify in the King of Pop's wrongful death trial.

The cardiologist, who is serving four years in prison for involuntary manslaughter for the 2009 death of Jackson, was subpoenaed to testify in Katherine Jackson's ongoing $40 billion lawsuit against concert promoter AEG Live, and he has invoked the fifth amendment of the U.S. Constitution, thus protecting himself against self-incrimination, pending his upcoming appeal proceedings.

Editors at Tmz.com have obtained a voicemail message Murray left for a friend, in which he begs not to be put on the stand.

In the audio he can be heard saying, "Please stop. If you don’t, let this serve as my final warning to both sides (defence and prosecution). Don’t incite me to testify. Consider this as an imminent nuclear warning. Enough is enough."

This is the second time Murray has verbally threatened to release a "nuclear" secret about Jackson, after levelling a similar demand in April (13). Both times the jailed doctor stopped short of revealing what information he has concerning the late pop star.

Katherine is suing AEG Live alleging bosses ignored signs her superstar son was suffering from poor health and were negligent in hiring Murray to care for him preceding his ill-fated This Is It residency in London.

Executives at AEG Live maintain Jackson hired Murray as his personal doctor.

The case continues.

Michael Jackson’s mum in court outburst

MICHAEL Jackson’s mum has told a court his world tour promoters stood by and watched him “waste away” and die.

By Richard Spillett/Published 24th July 2013

10026

Katherine Jackson, 83, broke down in tears as she gave evidence at the £26billion civil case over the King Of Pop’s death.

She wept after being shown a horrific photo of her son’s gaunt, sleep-deprived face.

Katherine and her family are suing tour organiser AEG, claiming it worked Jacko to death ahead of his 2009 This Is It shows. The company denies the allegations, claiming its senior staff were unaware of the singer’s drug addiction.

After seeing emails between AEG executives about his declining state, she said: “They watched him waste away, from what I can hear.

“They could have called me. He was asking for his father. My grandson told me that Michael was scared. He was asking for Joseph.”

Katherine said that she suspected Michael was using drugs for back pain, but did not realise he was an addict.

Jacko denied being hooked on painkillers when confronted by his mother a year earlier, the Los Angeles court heard on Monday.

She said: “He didn’t want me to worry. I didn’t think it was that serious. When a child respects his mother and doesn’t want her to think that it’s bad, he’ll deny it.”

10027

Katherine snapped at AEG’s lawyer when repeatedly asked about the meeting, accusing him of trying to “confuse” her.

She insisted that the company bore responsibility for Michael’s death and should not have hired Dr Conrad Murray, 60, who was jailed for manslaughter after giving the star a lethal dose of Propofol.

She added: “Nobody came to me and said anything about it. My children probably didn’t want me to worry.”

When asked if she missed her son, a tearful Katherine replied: “There are no words.”

AEG deny any responsibility for Jackson’s death and claim he decided to hire Dr Murray.

Mr Smoothie Criminal! Prince Jackson treats girlfriend to frozen yoghurt in Beverly Hills

By Mike Larkin

He is the heir to one of the biggest fortunes in showbusiness.

So no wonder Prince Jackson felt comfortable cutting loose and treating his girlfriend to a frozen yoghurt in Beverly Hills on Tuesday.

The teenager looked like he was having a great time with Remi Alfalah as they enjoyed the summer sunshine in the posh area of Los Angeles.

And their day out seemed to be made all the sweeter by their tasty treats, with the 16-year-old smiling widely as he tucked into his yoghurt.

The dynamic duo were joined by a burly minder, who walked a few steps ahead iof them to give them a modicum of date time privacy.

Prince may have cost himself more than a few chivalry points during their outing however, as he insisted on climbing into his transport first as they prepared to head to their next destination.

He seemed in a hurry to get into the rear so he could continue to indulge himself.

It was perhaps a prudent decision though, as he was stopped by police last week for speeding near his Calabasas, California home.

The aspiring actor, who is the oldest son of the Prince of Pop, was allegedly going 40 mph in a 25 mph zone while driving a Ford pickup truck.

He is expected to have to pay a $250 fine.

Prince Jackson and his girlfriend Remi Alfalah were snapped giggling after grabbing some frozen yogurt in Beverly Hills on Tuesday, and the duo have been joined at the hip all summer long! Good thing Michael Jackson's oldest son almost always has a chaperone, er, bodyguard with him!

But maybe he should have one 'round the clock? Last week Prince was pulled over by police in Calabasas and given a ticket for going around 40 mph in a 25 zone. As long as he doesn't pull a Justin Bieber with his car, we're probably all safe...

In other news, the Jackson family's wrongful death lawsuit against AEG Live continued this week, with Katherine giving a very emotional testimony on Monday when asked about MJ's final days.

As you know, the Jacksons are suing the concert promotion company, alleging that they pushed the singer too hard and hired Conrad Murray, the doctor responsible for administering the fatal dose of propofol to the star in 2009. Katherine accused AEG of standing by while MJ's health deteriorated, telling the courtroom, "They could have called me. He was asking for his father. My grandson told me that (Michael) was scared; he was asking for Joseph. They watched him waste away, from what I can hear."

'I'm not answering that': Katherine Jackson snaps at lawyer when questioned at wrongful death trial about son Michael's drug dependency

Katherine Jackson grew annoyed while on the witness stand on Monday when questioned about her son Michael's drug dependency.

The 83-year-old mother of the King Of Pop - who died from an overdose of painkillers in 2009- snapped at a lawyer as she testified in her son's wrongful death lawsuit against concert promoters AEG Live.

Katherine said she does not believe her son bore any responsibility for his own death, and claimed he denied abusing painkillers during their only private conversation about the the issue in Las Vegas.

Katherine is suing AEG Live, claiming it failed to properly investigate Dr. Conrad Murray, who was later convicted of involuntary manslaughter for giving the singer an overdose of the anesthetic propofol.

She grew touchy when attorney Marvin Putnam, who represents the concert promoter, repeatedly asked her about the details regarding the Vegas meeting with her son, according to the NY Daily News.

'I'm not answering that question,' she said in response to one query she believed 'didn't make sense.'

'You're just getting me confused so you'll have something to come back on,' Katherine told Putnam.

Katherine also told the jury she believes the promoters of her son's ill-fated comeback concerts watched her son waste away before his death.

Katherine Jackson tearfully testified that she didn't know about emails discussing her son's health until after a trial against AEG Live LLC began nearly three months ago.

She told jurors that AEG's executives should have called her to discuss issues with Jackson's health before his death in June 2009.

She made the comments about AEG's actions after Putnam questioned her stated motive for the lawsuit, which she says is a search for the truth.

'He took care of me': Katherine e tearfully described learning about his death and told jurors that he had been her primary means of financial support throughout his life.

Putnam told jurors during opening statements in the negligence lawsuit in April that the case centered on personal responsibility - specifically Michael's decision to ask Murray to administer propofol as a sleep aid while he prepared for his shows.

AEG Live denies it hired the doctor or bears any responsibility for Michael's death.

Katherine said she believes AEG Live hired Murray, and said she never heard of the cardiologist until her son died, and indicated that she felt Murray bore responsibility for her son's death.

'Even though he asked for it, he could have said no,' Katherine said of Murray.

She said she asked prosecutors to drop a $100 million restitution claim against Murray because he has several children.

'His money should go to the children,' she said.

Putnam also asked Katherine Jackson about her son's payments to her over the years. She said he directly paid many of the expenses on her home and would occasionally give her cash as a gift.

Katherine Jackson said she didn't keep track of the payments and appeared to grow annoyed at the questions.

'What does this have to do with the death of my son,' she asked Putnam.

The attorney also asked about Katherine Jackson about conversations she had with her son about prescription drug use.

She said she asked him about it when he lived in Las Vegas and he denied he was abusing prescription medications.

'I'm a mother, quite naturally he denied it,' she said. 'He wouldn't want me to think that.'

She said she was aware her son took medications for pain in his back and scalp after he sustained injuries over his career. She said she never saw signs that her son was abusing medications, including when she and several of her children went to the singer's Neverland Ranch for an intervention.

Her son was fine but upset that they thought he had a problem.

Katherine began her testimony on Friday. She tearfully described learning about his death and told jurors that he had been her primary means of financial support throughout his life.

'Michael took care of me, my every need, my every want,' she said Friday. 'He gave me everything.'

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A spectator attending the civil trial over Michael Jackson's death was banned Wednesday by a judge after he snapped a photo in a courthouse hallway that included jurors hearing the case.

Earlier on Wednesday, jurors watched the videotaped testimony of a physician who said he treated the late singer to help him stop taking Demerol.

Bailiffs confiscated William Wagener's cellphone and ordered him to return on Thursday to find out whether the ban will remain in place or other disciplinary actions will be taken.

Wagener said he inadvertently snapped the photo on his smartphone while riding an escalator. He cooperated with bailiffs to retrieve the photo and said he did not send it to anyone.

The photo is the latest incident that has raised concerns about the security around jurors hearing the negligence case filed by Jackson's mother against AEG Live LLC. Two alternate jurors were approached by a woman last month who told them not to award any money to the Jackson family.

In recent days, tiny windows on the courtroom door were blocked after jurors reported seeing someone press a camera to the window and snap a photo during the proceedings. Videotaping and photography in the courthouse are banned without a court order, and a judge blocked a request by news outlets to broadcast the trial.

Bailiffs or a court clerk give daily reminders of the courtroom's rules, which include a ban on any transmissions from inside the trial or loud outbursts during the testimony.

Wagener, 67, said he posts updates on the trial on Facebook and YouTube and has sold rights to videos he made during Jackson's 2005 criminal trial. He said if he's banned from the trial, it will hurt his ability to cover the case. He said being in the courtroom is the only way to hear the inflection of lawyers and witnesses and get a full sense of the proceedings.

Earlier, in a videotaped testimony, one of Jackson's former physicians described how in 2002 he placed an implant in Jackson's abdomen to block the effects of opioid medications such as Demerol.

Dr. Alimorad Farschcian said Jackson told him that he wanted to stop taking Demerol for the sake of his children. The Miami-based physician became close to the entertainer after treating him for a sprained ankle, spending time at Neverland Ranch and meeting Jackson's mother on Christmas Day in 2002.

Farschcian said the implant kept the singer off of Demerol for at least nine months and Jackson's mother Katherine seemed pleased when he described it to her and her son showed her the device.

Katherine Jackson testified on Monday that she never saw the device and could never prove her son abused prescription medications.

The Jackson family matriarch is suing AEG Live, claiming it negligently hired another doctor, Conrad Murray, who was convicted of administering Jackson a fatal dose of anesthetic in 2009. No trace of Demerol was found in Jackson's system when he died.

AEG Live denies it hired Murray, and its attorneys have said Jackson hid his addiction struggles, and the company bears no responsibility for his death.

Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos said she would consult with another judge about how to handle Wagener and the photo of jurors.

Debbie Rowe 'to tell jurors in Michael Jackson's wrongful death trial star hid prescription drug abuse for decades'

By Kerry Mcdermott
PUBLISHED: 13:23 GMT, 25 July 2013 | UPDATED: 14:09 GMT, 25 July 2013

Michael Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe will be called to the stand by AEG in his family's wrongful death case against the concert promoters AEG, it has been claimed.

Relatives of the King of Pop - who died in 2009 after overdosing on painkillers - have accused AEG Live LLC of failing to properly investigate her son's physician Dr Conrad Murray.

But according to a new report Rowe will take the stand and testify that Jackson was a 'secret, hardcore drug addict' for decades - in what could be a hugely damaging blow for his family's case.

Sources told gossip website TMZ.com Rowe, 54, who is the mother of Jackson's children Michael Prince and Paris, will say she was aware the star was abusing some prescription medication during the 1980s and '90s, but that she did not realise the extent of his habit.

Rowe will tell jurors she had been unaware Michael's dermatologist Dr Arnold Klein had 'a standing order... when Michael came to the office he should be injected with Demerol and Vistaril', TMZ said.

Vistaril increases the strength of painkiller Demerol, the report said.

It claims Rowe will say Michael hid the extent of his problem from her - testimony that would likely boost AEG's argument it had no reason to be aware of the singer's drug abuse.

It is claimed the mother-of-two will reveal how she saw Michael emerge from Klein's office looking 'out of it' in the days leading up to his death.

TMZ said she would describe a phone call she allegedly made to Klein during which she told him: 'He's dead and it's your fault'.

She will say she was unaware Jackson was visiting doctors with the specific aim of 'getting high and falling asleep', the report said.

Debbie Rowe
To Testify About
MJ's Shocking Drug Use

7/25/2013 12:20 AM PDT

0724-debbie-rowe-article-splash-4

Debbie Rowe will testify in the Michael Jackson wrongful death case that MJ was a SECRET, hardcore drug addict for decades -- testimony that could severely damage the Jackson's case.

Sources connected with the trial tell TMZ ... Rowe will be called by AEG Live Tuesday or Wednesday ... and she'll testify that in the '80s and '90s ... she knew Michael was abusing some prescription meds, but had no idea his habit was so out of control.

We're told Rowe will point the finger at her former boss, MJ's go-to doc, Arnie Klein. Rowe will testify she learned after the fact that Klein had a standing order ... when Michael came to the office he should be injected with Demerol and Vistaril (which makes the Demerol stronger).

Rowe will say Michael kept the extent of his drug abuse a secret from her -- something that will clearly help AEG, because the company is arguing it had no reason to know Michael was a drug abuser.

Rowe will say she saw Michael on TMZ coming out of Klein's office days before he died -- looking totally out of it. We're told she will say she called Klein after Michael died and said, "What the f**k did you give him? He's dead and it's your fault." She then hung up on him.

Rowe's testimony will further help AEG because she'll say she had no idea Michael was secretly going to surgical offices specifically for the purpose of getting high and going to sleep.

She'll also say she's the only person in Michael's world who could control him -- that she's the only one (including Michael's family) who would say "NO."

The testimony could be critical. If the jury believes Michael could hide his hardcore drug use, AEG would have no reason to sound an alarm or take preventative action.

Celine Dion
Bigger Than Michael
So Claims AEG

7/25/2013 10:32 AM PDT

It's Billie Jean vs. Titanic, and AEG claims the ship wins hands down. Translation -- AEG is trying to convince the Michael Jackson jury that Celine Dion is bigger than MJ.

AEG exec John Meglin is on the stand in the wrongful death case, scoffing at the Jackson family's claim that Michael would have earned $1.5 billion had he lived.

Meglin told the jury it's his opinion Celine is a bigger star and therefore more bankable than MJ ever would have been. Yet according to reports, Celine is worth a measly $400 mil.

Fun facts: Jackson ranks #3 in most albums sold worldwide -- more than a billion (behind the Beatles and Elvis) . Celine ranks #9 at 200 million albums.

As for Grammys, MJ also has her beat with 13 Grammys to her 5.
So we gotta ask ...

Debbie Rowe will Schockierendes über Jacko aussagen

Donnerstag, 25.07.2013, 16:53

Debbie Rowe to tell court Michael Jackson was secret drug addict

Testimony ... Debbie Rowe is set to give evidence, reports say

DEBBIE Rowe is to tell Michael Jackson’s wrongful death case that the singer was a secret hardcore drug addict for decades, reports claim.

Rowe, 54, will be called by AEG Live to testify she knew Jackson was abusing prescription medication in the 1980s and ’90s.

She will also say she had no idea his habit was so out of control, according to US gossip site TMZ.

Rowe – Jacko’s ex-wife and mother to Prince, 16, and Paris, 15 — is said to heap blame on Jackson’s former doctor Arnold Klein, claiming he had orders to inject the star with Demerol and Vistaril every time he came to the doctor’s office.

Rowe will also say Jackson kept his drug abuse under wraps – a statement thought to help AEG who argue it had no reason to know of the star’s habit.

Meanwhile, Jackson’s mum Katherine, 83, told an LA court her son was “sick” and “being pressured” by the promoter as he prepared for his 50-date comeback tour.

She claimed the company failed to give him proper medical attention in his final days.

Mrs Jackson told the court: “My son was being pressured. He asked for his father.

“My son was sick. Nobody said, ‘Call the doctor. What’s wrong with him?”

When defence lawyer Martin Putnam said he did have a doctor, she replied. “My son needed another doctor, an outside doctor, not Dr Murray.”
