After a morning of intense clashes at Tal ‘Afayseh, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to assert full control over the southeastern perimeter of the hill after killing over a dozen armed combatants from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and their allies from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jund Al-Aqsa at this area in the Hama Governorate.
If the Syrian Armed Forces can take full control of Tal Afayseh, they will have effectively positioned themselves for the eventual counter-attack to retake the town of Al-Sirmaniyah in the Al-Ghaab Plains; this town is strategically located directly east of the Prophet Younis Mountains of eastern Latakia and it is the last remaining Al-Qaeda stronghold in this area.
In addition to their assault on Tal ‘Afayseh, the Syrian Armed Forces have attacked the Al-Qaeda militants at the outskirts of Qastoun, where they engaged a large contingent of these combatants in order to position themselves for the capture of this town located southeast of Jisr Al-Shughour.

Hezbollah and their allies targeted the second highest point in the Qalamoun Mountains at Tal Sadr Al-Bastan (2,601 meters above sea-level), where they stormed the southwestern perimeter of the hill, killing a confirmed 27 enemy combatants and wounding another 14 members from Jabhat Al-Nusra, while also destroying five of their armored vehicles that were mounted with a variety of anti-aircraft machine guns and doshkas.
After nearly two hours of non-stop fighting at Tal Sadr Al-Bastan, Hezbollah and their allies were able to assert full control of this steep hill that overlooks Jaroud ‘Arsaal, Jaroud Faleeta, and southern Jarajeer; this rugged area is located 2km north of the highest point in the Qalamoun Mountains at Tal Al-Moussa.
With the second highest point in the Qalamoun Mountains under their control, Hezbollah and the Syrian Armed Forces look to sweep the remaining pockets of resistance under Al-Nusra control; however, despite the latter’s success in western Syria, their counter-parts from the Lebanese Armed Forces have yet to combat the militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) that are entrenched in northern part of the ‘Arsaal District.
If the Lebanese Armed Forces remain stagnate in their fight against the terrorist groups situated in the ‘Arsaal District of the Beqa’a Governorate, the Syrian-Lebanese border will continue to be in danger of armed combatants from Jabhat Al-Nusra and ISIS infiltrating into Syria from Lebanon.
For the first time in months, the villages located near the historical Khabour River have experienced a significant dissipation in violence, as the predominately Kurdish “People’s Protection Units” (YPG) and the Assyrian militias from the Syriac Military Council (SMC) have asserted control over a number of sites from the town of Tel Tamer to the ‘Abdel-‘Aziz Mountains in southern Al-Hasakah.
The YPG and SMC fighters captured this vast area on the Khabour River after going on the offensive against the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS), who later captured large swathes of the territory earlier this year; this prompted many human rights groups to call for a ceasefire in order to obstruct the violence that was engulfing these predominately Assyrian villages in the Al-Hassakah Governorate.
In addition to their success at Tal Tamer, the YPG and SMC fighters captured the strategic villages of Tal Hormuz and Tal Nasri after a number of violent firefights over the last three days in western Al-Hasakah; these villages were vital to ISIS because of their proximity to the terrorist group’s main supply route, which leads to Al-Shadadi in the south.
A local source in the Al-Hasakah Governorate has also reported the YPG’s capture of the highest point at the ‘Abdel-‘Aziz Mountains, along with the capture of Ghabish and Tal Shameran by the Assyrian militia known as the “Suturo”; this coincides with their success at Tal Tamer.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said ISIS had brought down the helicopter after midnight near the Kweyris air base in the east of Aleppo province.Zumindest wurde einer Seite ein klein wenig die Möglichkeit genommen weitere Kriegsverbrechen zu begehen.
But Syrian state television said the aircraft had crashed because of technical problems.
"A helicopter crashed after takeoff from Kweyris airport in Aleppo province because of technical faults and the crew were killed," it reported.
ISIS fighters have surrounded the air base since March 2014 and have fought fierce clashes with its garrison.
The Syrian government has used helicopters to drop so-called barrel bombs on rebel-held areas of Aleppo province.
The crude weapons -- made from oil drums, gas cylinders or water tanks, packed with explosives and scrap metal -- have killed hundreds of civilians, drawing condemnation from human rights groups.
President Bashar al-Assad has denied they are being used.
