The Phenomenon of Tham Khao Prah Thong
On June 21 2004 I have experienced the strangest ever phenomena in my life.
On that day again I went out with our MPM team packed with video and still picture cameras, this day to a place, called Tham Khao Prah Thong at Khaowcha Mao District which is located about 50 km east of Chonburi at the eastern seaboard of Thailand.
These beautiful places are so far not very well known as a tourist destination, nor are known all other very interesting locations in and around the area.
We therefore highly appreciated the warmly welcome of the Mayor of Bothong, Mr. Apisit Teerapoovarit and his staff of authority, who supported our visits to the most interesting places.
After arrival in Bothong in the morning hours, we were invited to interview the Governor of Chonburi, Mr. Pisit Ketphasuk and the Mayor of Bothong, Mr. Apisit Teerapoovarit during a local celebration event.
Further more we had some discussions with the Superintendent of Bothong’s Police Station, Police Colonel Mr. Trisak Sukapah.
The Municipal Councilor of Bothong, Mr. Soomporn Koakphoa jointed our trips during the whole day. We would like to express our special thanks to him for his guidance.
After the local ceremonial event we drove to several places of interest and later on to the place, which I will never forget, namely to Tham Khao Prah Thong which is a Buddhist Monks cave heritage.
There we spent over an hour’s time for shooting photos and filming the bizarre and colorful caves and surrounded classical forest area.
On arrival at 15:55 hrs and parking our vehicle I took my Digital Still Picture Camera to walk in excitement straight to a grotto, or in other words it’s an about 100 meter long cave with a main entrance and two exits. The front of the cave houses an altar for conducting prayer and other by monks used ritual facilities also including an electric light installation, which was at the time of entering switched off.
So I switched on the flash of my camera in order to catch the background of the cave as well. Our Team Members were still in the car parking area to prepare the Video Camera and other equipment for our filming session.
After taking one photograph with the cameras time stamp at 15:58 I went out of the grotto to find another interesting scene.
So I met a monk sitting in another small grotto conducting prayer. He agreed on my request taking some pictures.
But when I checked the quality on the tiny LCD Display I found that the first picture taken in the cave before had some strange gray-blue object in the center of the screen.
So I went back to the large grotto at sharp 16:00 to try again a view photos.
Again first picture an almost screen size gray unexplainable skull like something appeared on the LCD View Finder during play back.
Nevertheless all the following pictures of the said cave and all other places appeared normal at a perfect quality as well as the films on our DV Movie Camera.
The rest of the evening we visited some other amazing places and returned to Pattaya in the late evening.
The surprise came after return to our studio when I downloaded the photos to our Studio PC and watched the pictures on a larger monitor along with my 12 years old daughter.
Her first reaction on the two mentioned mysterious images was “Daddy that looks like ghosts”.
The first picture taken in this grotto looked like a spiritual apparition sitting in the center of the room holding an undefined object in the left arm.
At that moment even I was speechless.
After I put myself together again I discussed this phenomenon with our Promotion & Production Manager Mr. Soonthon Punyahom.
We decided to return to the rocky mountain cave area the next day at the same time in order to find out the course of these mysterious still pictures.
After informing the Authorities at Bothong about this phenomenon we went again on 22 June 2004 at the same time carrying our equipment to Tham Khao Prah Thong.
After discussion with the Buddhist Monks there, we set up our cameras to simulate the same situation as on the day before.
In addition we made some tests with various artificial lights, creating smoke, etc.
The result at that day was completely normal, except our at the same position installed high tech Video Camera recorded some distorted background noise during recording a prayer session of the Monk’s leader.
Later on we showed the print outs of our unbelievable and remarkable images to the Monks. We learned that this temple like cave is known to them for its unreal mystic, even though it is unseen for the human eye and the place must be treated with the highest respect.
Since the first encounter with the supernatural appearance we are working again and again with those mystical images to hopefully one day find an explanation or some other individuals in Thailand or any other country are willing to contact and assist us.
All details about the above subject and the entire region around Bothong of places with tourist attractions a Documentary Video in Multi Languages on common media will be published shortly in cooperation with the legal authority of Bothong.
