They trolled the hell out of a friend of mine with the 8.1 update. He thought he was getting the Start button he was used to, but clicking on it just sends you to the tiles screen :troll:

Yeah, and you wouldn't believe it. She still prefers that crap despite the fact that she had to bring her laptop to a friend; so he can get rid of tons of malware for her.
And she claims that she knows windows, although I offered her several times to install a neat, sleek and fast Ubuntu.

A different friend of mine has Windows 8 on one of those Lenovo laptop-tablet combinations, and even the touch screen is unresponsive and shitty.
It's like they wanted to copy iOS, but decided it was too much work and just phoned it in.

Yeah. I think a lot of people got stuck with it because they just happened to be buying a new device right when it came out, so they didn't know what they were getting into.

And my sister is always pestering me if something is wrong with her laptop. I tell ya, this is annoying as hell.

I'm lucky in that respect. My sister doesn't do much for computer safety, but she's a prude so she has very little exposure to malware. She basically just does Facebook, Youtube, school work, and occasionally single-player video games.

My brother is super paranoid about malware and data collection, and he gets mad at her for not caring about this stuff. I see her more often than he does, though, and based on what I see it's highly unlikely to actually matter for her.

And your brother still uses windows, I guess?

Not sure these days. I know he has it at last, since he's an old-games fanatic and most of those were DOS-only. He might dual-boot, though. His most recent device purchase was actually an iMac Mini because he's a programmer and wants to be able to develop for iDevices.

Tell your brother that it is no use to pester other people about Linux or computer security in general, because they just don't give a damn. Everyone has to decide for himself.
