It was an interesting experience spending the day with Roman, a 30 year old member of the AZOV Battalion who just got back from fighting on the front lines in Donbas. He's currently on rotation which allows him a week or so of rest before he is redeployed. I took him to lunch and walked around the neighborhood of Kyiv he grew up in, called Podil and asked him the questions everyone has on their mind. What is it like being in the trenches on the front line? Have you shot down any Russian tanks? What is the food like there? How do you feel about normal fighting age men at cafes and restaurants in Kyiv acting like nothing is going on? Are you a Nazi? Watch the video for answers to all of these questions and more.
