Black Sabbath ist eine englische Heavy-Metal-Band aus Birmingham, die als Mitbegründer dieses Genres sowie als eine prägende Größe des Hard Rocks der frühen 70er Jahre gilt Der Band wird ein maßgeblicher Einfluss auf die Entwicklung der Rock- und Metal-Musik der folgenden Jahrzehnte zugesprochen, ebenso auf die Entstehung des Subgenres Doom Metal und über ihre manchmal diabolischen Inhalte indirekt auf den Black Metal und Wegbereiter des Heavy Metal.

Aktuelle Infos :

Am 16. August 2011 wurde das Gerücht verbreitet, dass die Originalbesetzung für eine Wiedervereinigung zurückgekehrt ist. Tony Iommi verneinte die Gerüchte, aber schloss eine Wiedervereinigung nicht hundertprozentig aus, am 17. August 2011 auf seiner offiziellen Seite. Für den 11. November 2011 wurde eine wichtige Nachricht angekündigt, die dann in Form einer Videobotschaft auf YouTube gelüftet wurde: Die Urbesetzung hatte ihre Wiedervereinigung für lange Zeit verschwiegen und plante für 2012 ein neues Studioalbum und eine Welt-Tournee.

Anfang 2012 wurde jedoch die Krebserkrankung Tony Iommi bekannt, worauf die Reunion-Tour vorerst verschoben wurde. Um die Fans nicht zu enttäuschen werden stattdessen „Ozzy & Friends“ (u.a. mit Zakk Wylde, Slash) auftreten. Für die Konzerte, bei denen auch Sabbath-Bassist Geezer Butler spielen wird, ist auch ein Black-Sabbath-Set angekündigt.
