Possibly one of the most underrated horror film soundtracks of all time. The recurring theme in Don Coscarelli's 1979 hit film, Phantasm, is an energetic and imaginative piece of work that is on par with that of Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" (from The Exorcist), or Goblin's score from Profondo Rosso.
The "Ave Satani" piece from The Omen score is hands-down one of the most sinister sounding pieces of music ever written. Its ominous and rising tone, and choral chanting, easily pulls the casual viewer in with excitement and fear. We're afraid of the music, but at the same time we can't help but enjoy its gothic qualities and even sing along to it while we're watching the film.
